| Who is a suitable candidate for MRgFUS ? |
Your radiologist in the FUS-Center will determine if you are a suitable candidate for the MRgFUS treatment after performing an MRI scan examination:
Treatment is necessary only if the fibroid causes symptoms. |
Whether your fibroids are suitable for the treatment with the new technology depends on the type of fibroids, the location of the fibroids within the uterus, and the size and number of fibroids. |
The treatment alternative that is most appropriate for a patient must be determined individually in consultation between gynecologist, radiologist, and patient. The family planning of the patient should play a role in this decision. |
Some women will not be able to have the MRgFUS treatment:
Women who cannot go into an MRI - this includes patients with metallic implants, and patients who are allergic to the intravenous contrast agent (Gadolinium) needed to help the physician see the uterine arteries and veins during the MRgFUS procedure. |
Women who are pregnant | |
